ITI/UNESCO Network for Higher Education in the Performing Arts
Projects
UNESCO, the International Theatre Institute and the member institutions of the ITI/UNESCO Network for Higher Education in the Performing Arts follow similar goals, share similar views and values, and create several projects together. Some of them are specific events, others are permanent thematic working groups. The following projects constitute the core of the Network.
New projects and Project Groups are called on to emerge from the ITI/UNESCO Network interactions. They need to be submitted to the Board and approved by the Board and also at the next General Assembly.
Here is a brief overview about the ongoing projects.
Conferences
The ITI/UNESCO Network encourages its members to create Conferences focusing on common interests and actual issues. If another similar association is interested in a joint Conference, it may write to the Secretariat of the Network.

Student Festivals
Student Festivals are an important part of the Network. Small, big, on dance, on theatre, on the performing arts, with workshops, joint projects or in association with other networks are all permissible. If there is an interest to hold a festival, please connect with the Secretariat of the Network.

Performing Arts Education Journal
The ITI/UNESCO is planning to publish a journal on education in the Performing Arts. At the moment, the project is in its concept phase. Interested persons and institutions are welcome to participate in this project.

Dance Platform
The ITI/Network is highly interested to increase the members with Higher Education institutions that are focusing on dance and create joint projects.

Silk Road
The cultural and educational exchange of institutions along the Silk Road and to celebrate the cultural diversity of the countries of the Silk Road is the main issue of this project.

Africa Educational Project
To offer emerging artists of Africa training in the professions of the performing arts is the core issue of this project. African educators and educators from all over the world are encouraged to offer training in Africa.

Hybrid Theatre Education
The World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT/ITI has set up this working group within the ITI/UNESCO Network for Higher Education in the Performing Arts to explore the potential for development in the field of hybrid tuition.

International Master Classes
Some of the members are already providing Master Classes for international and local students and performing arts professionals, for instance as a Summer Academy. This initiative is recommended by the ITI/UNESCO Network as it opens the door for international exchange of students, educators and trainers.

EQUiPA / Assessment
Different countries, and different universities, have varied ways of operating. This can make the task of establishing the commonalities and commensurate working methods essential to exchange elusive. The Network proposes to create a body capable of dealing with this issue so as to better facilitate cooperation between universities around the world. Experts keen to collaborate are welcome.

Mapping / Directory
Since there is no global directory of performing arts universities, departments of universities, academies, colleges, research centres, studios and other institutions related to education in the performing arts, a Directory logging the names and locations of relevant institutions from around the world is to be created.

Database on Acting Methods
This project is coordinated by the Raykin Graduate School of Performing Arts. It consists of a register that specifies what acting method(s) in an acting school is/are used.
