World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT. Research Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI)

The World Theatre Training Institute was founded in 1995 as AKT-ZENT International Theatre Centre Berlin, by the artistic directior Dr. Jurij Alschitz and programme director Christine Schmalor, to provide a framework for continuous learning, experiment, and research.
In 2011, AKT-ZENT was appointed research centre of the International Theatre Institute, World Organisation for the Perfoming Arts to conduct the ITI project “The World Theatre Training Library”. In 2017, it became the World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT / ITI. The Institute is the lead organisation for the European Association for Theatre Culture.

The World Theatre Training Institute (WTTI) provides continuous education for theatre practitioners in seminars, master classes and laboratories with the shared objective of acquiring, accumulating, and disseminating knowledgeand theatre expertise; exploring and imparting innovative methodological principles.

The WTTI offers Higher Education Institutions to partake in the newest research of training methods, by providing training units for students.
The WTTI conducts own research projects in cooperation with academies, theatres, theatre associations and ITI Centres.

The WTTI shares knowledge through its biannual international festival for training methods Methodika.; through the on-going research project World Theatre Training Library to be published world-wide; and through ars incognita the institute’s own series of publications of theatre handbooks.

Since 2020, the WTTI offers a wide range of online acting and directing courses of innovative content at the Online Theatre Academy in three departments: Team of Teachers' Department, School of Jurij Alschitz and a Russian Department.

Over the years the unique Team Teaching Model that has been developed with a European ensemble of teachers teaching a self-enclosed pedagogic system in a fully multi-lingual environment with the emphasis on exploring the inclusion of different cultures of the world, furthermore to conduct experiments with so-called spherical training for Quantum Pedagogy.
